Chair yoga is “Yoga for EveryBody”. If you have trouble getting down to the mat, sit at a desk all day, or just want to deepen your practice, chair yoga is for you. If you can breathe, you can do chair yoga. Nancy will guide you through a 45 minute long practice where you’ll learn several ways to practice yoga while seated at your desk, standing by your chair or traveling. You’ll also learn how to synchronize your moves with your breath. Experienced yogis are welcome, too.

The Adult Book Discussion Group began in March 1998.  We remained a small group for a long time, but have picked up more members so we now have a core group of over twenty.  We welcome anyone who wants to join, for one discussion or regularly. Book selections vary; we try to switch around to keep it interesting and to broaden our horizons.  We’ve read fiction and non-fiction, light stories and dark, popular titles and little-known ones.

The group meets year-round, the third Thursday of the month, 7:00—8:30 p.m.  The library keeps extra copies of the upcoming book to check out at the adult circulation desk, so if you’re interested in joining our discussion, just ask at the desk for a copy of the Adult Book Discussion Group book, or contact Carol Tracy at the reference desk or via email at ctracy@mokena.lib.il.us.

Please see the attachment for a full list of the year's books.

Priority registration is available exclusively to Mokena library cardholders 72 hours before the scheduled program ensuring that Mokena library cardholders receive the first opportunity to explore and participate in our limited room programs. This is a new procedure for our high demand programs. Non-Mokena Community Public Library District Holders will be placed on a pending wait list until 72 hours prior to the program. If there are openings at that time the wait list will be transferred to the registered list in the order they were added to the wait list.

Program Attendance Policy

This program will be held in our Program Room located downstairs near the Children's Department. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing programs@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through our Events calendar. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist.
