Join us for our new "My First Book Club" for children grades Kindergarten - 2nd. Each month we will read a different book from the Monarch Award list. We will read this month's picture book all together at the start of the program. We will then answer questions and discuss the book as a group. We will have a craft and/or activity to do that goes along with the theme of the story we read together. We will have time for a snack as well.
Registration is required.
Limit: 15 children
Ages: Kindergarten - 2nd grade.

When a flock of ducks arrives at an unsuspecting turtle's pond, the turtle is mistaken for a green duck and can't seem to convince anyone otherwise. Can the turtle find a way to take back the pond and get some peace and quiet once more?
The charming illustrations, simple text, and comic-like panels by J. E. Morris, author-illustrator of the Maud the Koala and Flubby books, make this a unique format with a narrative style perfect for storytime and progressing readers. Exciting, easy-to-read books are the stepping stone a young reader needs to bridge the gap between being a beginner and being fluent.
We highly recommend registering with an email address. This is the only way you will get a confirmation email, be able to cancel and receive any updates, including cancellation of the program. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through your confirmation email. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation notice, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist for two weeks. This is to accommodate as many patrons as possible due to limited space and popularity of our programs.
