Join us in our first “Ducks in the Graveyard” spooky diorama contest. You can find inspiration wherever you’d like: a cartoon, a book, a comic, a movie, a song, or even real life. As long as you can dream it, then you can design it. All we ask is that you keep the design family friendly. Feel free to use toys and other things to help with your design.
Material pickup will begin on Wednesday, September 17th. You will be provided with a cardboard box, some rubber ducks and a few spooky surprises to get you started on your design. We will only accept submissions using the provided box due to space issues.
There are only 50 kits available for pick up. Pick up is on a first come, first serve basis. We will not be able to hold kits for patrons. This is due to limited space and materials.
You must attach the submission form to the bottom of the diorama. There will be 3 grade groups to keep the skill level close to each other: K - 2nd, 3rd - 5th, and 6th - 8th. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within each group.
You may begin to submit your dioramas on Monday, October 6th.
All diorama submissions will be due by 6pm on Friday, October 17th.
Be sure to stop by the Mokena Library Young Adult Department and Children's Department to see all of the amazing designs on display during the week of October 14th - October 18th.
You can come vote for your favorite diorama at our Family Halloween Party on Saturday, October 18th from 12-3pm.
If you want to keep your submission, all dioramas must be picked up by Friday, October 24th or they will be thrown away.
We will contact all winners the week of October 20th
