Join our Children's Librarians for a fun afternoon filled with exploration, education, and endless fun as we embark on a nature hike through the enchanting wilderness of our local forest preserve. It's an experience that will leave lasting memories and inspire a lifelong love of the great outdoors!
Meet us offsite for our Nature Hike in the Woods at Hickory Creek Forest Preserve on LaPorte Road. We will meet at the Pavilion at the end of the access road.
Registration is required and a waiver must be signed in order to participate. A parent or guardian is asked to go on the walk with us to ensure the groups safety. All waivers must be returned by Wednesday, June 12th. Pick up a waiver at the Library or download it out from the link on the Event Calendar. You can turn in your child's signed waiver at the Main Customer Service Desk.

Attendance Policy for Children's Programs
We highly recommend registering with an email address. This is the only way you will get a confirmation email, be able to cancel and receive any updates, including cancellation of the program. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through your confirmation email. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation notice, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist for two weeks. This is to accommodate as many patrons as possible due to limited space and popularity of our programs.
Outdoor Program Disclaimer
Plan to be outside for the program you're registering for. We will do the program rain or shine. The program may be moved indoors to our downstairs Program Room. We will watch the weather for any chances of severe weather conditions, if that is the case, you will be notified of cancellation or a rain date rescheduling of this program.
Dress appropriately for outdoor programs. Please bring your sunscreen. We will have water bottles available as well.
Registration Required for Children's Programs (K-5th)
Registration is required.
Limit: 30 children
Grades: K - 5th grade
Please register each child's name only.

Waiver Required
This program will require a signed waiver to participate.
Please print out or visit the library to pick one up.
Turn in completed waiver to the library prior to program start.
