Program Description

Event Details

Join us at the Mokena Library for this fun Lemon Invisible Ink Experiment. Learn how to write hidden codes and secret messages to your friends using simple supplies you can find at home. We will provide all of the materials.

You will use lemon juice and a q-tip to write secret messages on a blank piece of white paper. We will then help you heat up your paper with a blow dryer to expose the secret message! With a little heat, the message you wrote will turn brown for people to read. You can also hold up your secret message to a lightbulb or candle, with a parent's supervision to see the message as well. You can also do this at home by putting the paper into an oven.

We'll take it a step further and have some together as we play CIA Spy Games with each other!

Attendance Policy for Children's Programs

We highly recommend registering with an email address. This is the only way you will get a confirmation email, be able to cancel and receive any updates, including cancellation of the program. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through your confirmation email. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation notice, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist for two weeks. This is to accommodate as many patrons as possible due to limited space and popularity of our programs.
