Program Description

Event Details

Step into the world of innovation and engineering at our STEAM Bridge Building Challenge! Kids will put their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) knowledge to the test as they design and construct bridges using basic materials. From popsicle sticks to straws, creativity knows no bounds as young engineers craft their structures. But the ultimate test awaits as rubber ducks take center stage, serving as the measure of a bridge's strength. Join us for a hands-on adventure where imagination meets ingenuity, and every bridge built is a triumph of innovation!

Registration is required.

Limit: 20 children

Grades: K - 5th grade

Please register each child's name only.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663, or email our Youth Services Librarians at youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us.

Attendance Policy for Children's Programs

We highly recommend registering with an email address. This is the only way you will get a confirmation email, be able to cancel and receive any updates, including cancellation of the program. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through your confirmation email. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation notice, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist for two weeks. This is to accommodate as many patrons as possible due to limited space and popularity of our programs.

Outdoor Program Disclaimer

Plan to be outside for the program you're registering for. We will do the program rain or shine. The program may be moved indoors to our downstairs Program Room. We will watch the weather for any chances of severe weather conditions, if that is the case, you will be notified of cancellation or a rain date rescheduling of this program.

Dress appropriately for outdoor programs. Please bring your sunscreen. We will have water bottles available as well.
