Policy:
Please list your child's height in the question box when registering. We will have a measuring station posted at Mr. Pete's desk in the YA area, so you can verify your child's height.
(Must be in 4th - 8th Grade & between 48in - 63in in height) These are the height requirements of the Junior Go Kart.
Your child will be measured and fitted into safety equipment at K1 Speed the day of the program. If your child does not meet these height requirements, your child will not be able to race and will be asked to leave. We will not tolerate patrons lying about their child's height. The Mokena Public Library and K1 Speed Go Kart Racing take the safety of all children extremely seriously.
If you do not follow the above guidelines, you will be responsible for paying a $60 fee, and your child will not be able to participate in any of the Summer Reading Programs and events. You must fill out the K1 Speed waiver and our offsite waiver. Both must be filled out in order to participate. If either waiver is NOT filled out, then you will be responsible for paying a $60 fee.
This is a free program, as long as you follow the rules!
We highly recommend registering with an email address. This is the only way you will get a confirmation email, be able to cancel and receive any updates, including cancellation of the program. Please arrive on time for the program. If you are unable to attend the program, please cancel at least 2 hours before the program begins, by emailing youthservices@mokena.lib.il.us or calling the Mokena Library at 708-479-9663 and canceling with a librarian. You can also cancel through your confirmation email. After 3 times of being marked absent without cancellation notice, we will be moving future registrations to the waitlist for two weeks. This is to accommodate as many patrons as possible due to limited space and popularity of our programs.
This waiver must be completely filled out and signed by Monday, June 3rd. If you have failed to complete the waiver, your child will not be able to participate in the program.
We ask that a parent/guardian is present throughout the entire program on Tuesday, June 4th from 3:00pm - 5:30pm. Each child will be measured and given a safety briefing promptly at 3:00pm. Please arrive on time. The children will begin racing at 3:30pm. Races will end by 5:30pm. Click here to complete the waiver.
Priority registration is available exclusively to Mokena library cardholders 72 hours before the scheduled program ensuring that Mokena library cardholders receive the first opportunity to explore and participate in our limited room programs. This is a new procedure for our high demand programs. Non-Mokena Community Public Library District Holders will be placed on a pending wait list until 72 hours prior to the program. If there are openings at that time the wait list will be transferred to the registered list in the order they were added to the wait list.
This program will require a signed waiver to participate.
