For Grades 6 - 12
Chess, as we know it today, was born out of the Indian game chaturanga before the 600s AD. The game spread throughout Asia and Europe over the coming centuries, and eventually evolved into what we know as chess around the 16th century.
In today's age, chess is played for strategy and spatial recognition. It's a system of training ourselves to appreciate cause and consequence, to improve our decision making. The best players train against computers, knowing they can't win, but they can learn.
Those that placed 1st and 2nd will get to pick from 2 prizes. A 3rd prize will be raffled off to everyone else who didn't place 1st or 2nd.
We'll have popcorn and water for everyone who participates.
