Event Details

National Cancer Survivor Day is celebrated on the 1st Sunday in June every year. The Cancer Support Center chose the timing of this exhibition to honor all of those who have been impacted by cancer.  This display will be on exhibit in the library's multi-purpose room throughout the month of June.

The art therapy participants at The Cancer Support Center come together each week to create art in a healing and supportive atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to try new things, relax, and enjoy the process of creating art. A few times of year they like to share the amazing artwork their participants have created. The art shows also help raise awareness about the supports available at The Cancer Support Center and the benefits of art therapy for our participants.

Art Therapy as defined by The American Art Therapy Association:

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.

Fun Fact: Barbie’s Career of the year this year is an Art Therapist!
