Program Description

Event Details

“1960s Songs of the Silver Screen” is a special edition of our “movie music” film history series that was first cobbled together for public libraries celebrating the founding of their institution during one of the most turbulent decades in American history. John's focus is on award-winning films and outstanding performances that Americans turned to during the 1960s, but also later films that paid tribute to a difficult decade in America. Having grown up in the 1960s on Chicago’s South Side, film history buff John LeGear developed a knack for recognizing what Americans sought to find at movie houses to get away from it all. His 13 film history presentations are intended to inspire audiences to recall some of the happiest days of their lives. In the end, we think you’ll find this show great fun and uplifting.
